This might be the final update? Or how to find bugs that are in your head
Stars of the Screen » Devlog
Hello! This may be Stars’ final content update! There may be bugfixes in near future but otherwise it’s very much complete. I may return later as I keep getting great ideas from players (especially big thanks to joecunningham! <3) but now I need to focus on my new game — more info about that one is coming soon :)
Full walkthrough available!
Before I get to the changelog, here’s a quick note: I published a FULL WALKTHROUGH of Stars of the Screen!
- Don’t read it if you don’t want to be spoiled!
- Read it if you’re stuck for more than a week and considering never to launch the game again!
Changelog
There are some funny and few important fixes in the release (1.6DX):
- Somehow I omitted the credits song from the credits! I remedied that stupid failure! In case you tried to find it, it’s emceeciscokid’s chiptune melody.
- Seeing the lovely Best Launch Experience category in The 2022 Playdate Community Awards (coming on your screens on Dec 8th!), I decided to perk up the launch animation.
- I finally found one bug in my head: I couldn’t see why the wrapping paper did not show when you download the game. I was confused, angry and ended up in denial. I almost started to believe that no other sideloaded game has it! Despite the evidence! In the end, there was simple fix that I found after repeatedly reading the documentation over and over: I just renamed wrapping-paper.png to wrapping-pattern.png and voilà! It all works!
- I fixed the absurdly wrong notification about secret levels. For unfortunate reasons, it showed number 3 even while the number of secret level increased to 6 in the previous release. My bad! I’m really sorry! I hope you recovered quickly from that shock.
- My wife warned me about a conceptual problem in the MS Office installer — the left button on Playdate pushed the right button on the keyboard and vice versa (I seriously rock my italic languages today!). After listening about the seriousness of aligning the buttons right on the Hello Playdate Podcast I had to fix it quick!
- I added the Multiplayer option to the new secret levels! Rock the toasters with your friend or enemy!
Well, that’s all. Continue letting me know about the good times you‘re having with the game! And the bad ones, too — I may fix it in some unexpected future update!
Thanks for playing! Have a nice day!
